Goal Accomplished: A reliable data platform that processes and transforms raw data from multiple internal software systems (CLI, Accordex, UKG, Paylocity, Oracle) and external sources (public data, competitor data, prices of goods), creating a single source of truth. This enables various stakeholders to make informed decisions based on cleaned and updated data.



Before Implementation:

  • Delays in Delivery: New pipelines or modifications were slow, especially with Oracle Custom Functions.

  • Communication Issues: Ineffective and delayed communication between the Diamond Line team and the previous Azure consultant.

  • Incomplete Documentation: Documentation started in July 2023 was not regularly updated.

  • Poor Modeling Practices: Best practices for data modeling were not followed, e.g., using calculated fields in the Data Warehouse.

  • Unused Services: Several active services, like Synapse and Ledger, were not utilized.


Key Improvements:

  • Team Collaboration: Enhanced communication and collaboration through daily Slack updates and weekly meetings.

  • Documentation: Continuous documentation updates following best practices.

  • Pipeline Enhancements: Significant improvements in data pipelines, including parameterization, incremental loading, and API analysis.

  • Standardization: Implementation of consistent naming conventions and audit columns.

  • Cost Reduction: Simplification of architecture and elimination of unused services.


Dashboard Overview

  • Shipments dashboard: Provides detailed insights into delivery metrics and driver performance: Weekly, monthly, and yearly data including total miles, delivery shipments, total pieces, delivery stops, hours worked, shipments per hour, and stops per hour, driver analysis, including hourly pay and earnings from UKG.

  • Operational dashboard: Summarizes key performance indicators for operational efficiency. Summary metrics such as bills per hour, bills per trailer, hours worked, inbound service, load average, off-street deliveries by 8 PM, stops per hour, and USD per mile.
